And why did John Betjeman famously describe Repton crypt as ‘holy air encased in stone’? Derby Cathedral published a book 'Saints of Derbyshire' last November, containing fascinating stories about saintly people connected with the county and diocese, written by Simon Taylor and Jo Simister, with illustrations. Simon would like to talk about how the gospel reached Derbyshire and seven Saxon saints connected with Repton, with a working title 'Royalty, Murder and a Sidetrack'.
