Welcome to our April’s MembersLecture. Today we welcome Dr Jim Harris, Teaching Curator at the Ashmolean Museum and an art historian specialising in late-medieval and early-Renaissance sculpture. Jim will take us through the remarkable history of St Olave Hart Street: founded in the 11th century, the site of a battle, once Samuel Pepys’ local parish, survivor of the Great Fire and the Blitz, and full of curious secrets - especially within its sculpture, including painted surfaces that Jim has been researching and telling us about today.
First our host, Vikki Jenner will be travelling to Chiselhampton in Oxfordshire: https://www.visitchurches.org.uk/visit/our-churches/chl
