Have a look at the future of St. Mary’s, Shrewsbury with us following urgent conservation to the world-renowned stained-glass windows.
Using sustainable practices this two-year £330,000 project funded in part by a £246,000 NLHF grant, this project helped conserve stained glass windows affected by vandalism and environmental factors. Through regular workshops at the church, a stained-glass festival, art exhibitions and the hard work of volunteers the project also engaged new visitors and allowed the local community to re-connect with St. Mary’s. 70,000 people now visit the church annually and can enjoy new interpretation and a Play and Learn area created with sustainable materials. Conservation to the windows included protective environmental glazing and used recycled or recyclable materials.
Find out what the future has in store for St. Mary’s in this mini-documentary...
